History

Hoosier Magnetics, Inc. specializes in the manufacturing of hard ferrite powders used in a wide variety of permanent magnet applications. Founded in 1975 in Washington, Indiana; Hoosier is a privately held company owned by B. Thomas Shirk, who has a PhD in Solid State Science from the Pennsylvania State University.

Hoosier Magnetics' sales remained at modest levels in the late 70's and early 1980's. In 1984 an additional production facility in New York was acquired and corporate headquarters was relocated to Toledo, Ohio.

Today Hoosier Magnetics is the largest ferrite producer in North America. Hoosier serves customers in over 20 countries and on 5 continents.
